About:

Lisa. Photographer. Dreamer. Song looper. Wife. Mom to a 6-year-old rabbit named Marbles, and a little boy named Corwin.

This is my personal blog, a place for random photos mostly taken with my iPhone, and the songs stuck in my head. And these are a few of my favorite things.

"There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." - Leonard Cohen

I like sleeping in, waking up to the smell of coffee, the beach, the city, complex carbohydrates, headphones, vinyl records, making lists, old movies, staying up 'till 2am, the smell of new books, road trips, witty banter, scarves, subtitles, singing in the shower, tongue-in-cheek humor, laughing 'till I cry, and bunnies.

Landed
Ben Folds

♬ I twisted it wrong just to make it right, had to leave myself behind. And I’ve been flying high all night. So come pick me up. I’ve landed. ♬

Still Fighting It
Ben Folds

♬ Everybody knows it hurts to grow up, and everybody does. It’s so weird to be back here. Let me tell you what, the years go on and we’re still fighting it. We’re still fighting it. And you’re so much like me, I’m sorry. ♬

Tiny Dancer
(Elton John cover)
Ben Folds

♬ Piano man, he makes his stand in the auditorium. Looking on, she sings the songs. The words she knows, the tune she hums. ♬

Selfless, Cold and Composed
Ben Folds Five

♬ You’ve done me no favor to call and be nice, telling me I can take anything I like. You don’t owe me to be so polite, you’ve done no wrong. You’ve done no wrong. Get out of my sight. It’s easy to be easy and free when it doesn’t mean anything to remain selfless, cold, and composed. ♬

Cigarette
Ben Folds Five

♬ Fred Jones was worn out from caring for his often screaming and crying wife during the day, but he couldn’t sleep at night for fear that she, in a stupor from the drugs that didn’t ease the pain, would set the house ablaze with a cigarette. ♬

I’ve loved Ben Folds for as long as I can remember. I find it beautiful, how he sees the world. (Incidentally, he’s also into photography.) This is a song made of a single run-on sentence, and it’s one of the saddest songs I know. If you like this, watch this video of Ben Folds performing Fred Jones, Part 2 with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
